The Marsh Helleborine in Netherlands

Marsh helleborine (Epipactis palustris) is a Belgian and Dutch naturally occurring wild orchid. Most localities of the species are found in wet dune valleys in the Dutch dunes, especially in valleys where alkaline or calcareous groundwater occurs. She is also in Belgian calcareous marshes near Brussels. The species is part of the Button Bies association or Junceto baltici-Schoenetum nigricantis, a rare plant community in the dunes. Marsh helleborine can also occur in vegetation with evergreen creeping willow and around which are taken into the plant community of the Pyrolo-Salicetum.

The marsh helleborine in the Netherlands is legally protected by the Flora and Fauna and in Belgium under the Law on Nature Conservation and the Royal Decree of 16 February 1976 on measures to protect certain wild plants.
